This Used To Be My Playground

This is a mosaic memento in remembering the old school playgrounds in Singapore.

I used to play at some of these old playgrounds when I was a little kid. I'm sure it would bring back many fond memories for some local viewers out there. The reason why I chose to make night images of these old playgrounds because no one have seen the night view, especially children. After sunset, all children go back home for dinner, leaving the playground behind in a quiet and calm state. Taking pictures of children at play is passe or cliche. I want to show them that the playground is still alive not just in the day but also at night.

I deliberately make the nocturnes with my camera positioned at low angles, estimated at the height of a little child, or when they view the whole playground at the top of one of the structures. That way, even when adults view the images, they can relive or recall their fond childhood memories, I hope.
